    Forest Hills: (0-0 & 0-0)

    The Yellow Jackets (26-5 & 9-1) open up the 2017-18 Fab-5 poll at the #1 spot. The Yellow Jackets bring back four of thier five starters from last years Final-4 team. The Yellow Jackets are the favorites to win the Rocky River conference for the 3rd year in a row under Coach Matt Sides. They are led by 6'3 junior forward Nas Tyson (21.0 ppg/7.7 rpg/2.7 spg), who is a POY candidate along with a dynamic backcourt of junior Jai Rorie (15.3 ppg)and senior Jaleel McLaughlin (11.1 ppg/2.6 apg/2.2 spg). The Yellow Jackets open the 2017-18 season at Central Cabarrus on Nov. 28th.

      Peidmont: (0-0 & 0-0)

      The Piedmont Panthers (16-11 & 6-4) enter the 2017-18 season at the #2 spot in the Fab-5 Poll. The Panthers return three starters from last years Panther team that advanced to the 2nd round of the state playoffs. They are led by senior Hunter Tyson. Tyson was 1st Team All-UCHoops and was named Co-SCC POY as a junior. Tyson led Union Co. in scoring (25.4 ppg) and rebounding (9.5 rpg). Senior Camden Baucom (7.2 ppg/2.0 apg) is returning to the backcourt along with UCHoops.com’s 6th Man of the Year Matthew Climbingbear (3.3 ppg). 6’2 forward Trip Fesmire is a high-energy player that came off the bench last year. The Panthers will open up hosting West Stanly on Nov. 17th.

        Marvin Ridge: (0-0 & 0-0)

        The Mavericks (17-12 & 5-5) open the 2017-18 season at the #4 spot in the Fab-5. Coach Haines returns 3 starters from last years team that advanced to the 2nd round of the state playoffs. Senior guard Bryce Carnohan (7.9 ppg) is the leading scorer from last season that returns. Senior Conner Ryan was named All-NewComer Team as a junior. Senior David Vogt was 2nd in Union Co. with 5.0 apg along with 3.9 ppg with out starting. 6’5 Riley Berry (5.6 ppg) will be asked to score more as well this season. The Mavs will open the season on Nov. 14th vs. Ardrey Kell.

          Monroe: (0-0 & 0-0)

          The Redhawks (13-10 & 6-4) open the 2017-18 season at the #4 spot in the Fab-5 poll. The Redhawks, who move up to the 3A SCC conference lose six seniors from last season. Coach Johnny Sowell will return sophomore Salen Streater (12.0 ppg) and juniors Tre Shepherd (8.0 pp/4.6 rpgg) and Trae Kenion (9.3 ppg) to the lineup. The Redhawks open the season hosting Anson Co. on December 1st.

            Weddington Warriors (0-0 & 0-0)

            The Warriors (21-8 & 9-1) open the 2017-18 season at the #5 spot of the Fab-5 Poll. The Warriors lose UCHOOPs POY/SCC Co-POY Ryan Schweiger, Cory Davis and Tim Havens from last years SCC championship team. Junior guard Max Brimigion brings quickness to the lineup with his ability to drive/score or find the open man. Senior guard Brock Peeler played a solid role last season and is a solid threat from the 3-point line. 6’3 Forward Caleb Dixon is more the traditional down low player in the lineup and Jared Applegate rounds up a big front line. 6’8 forwad Charles Pinner missed most of last year due to a back injury and was back this summer and looking ready to go. The Warriors will open the season at CATA on Nov. 14th.
