The Mavericks won the SCC last season (10-0) and will are the clear favorite to repeat as SCC Champs in 2023-24. The Mavs graduated Zahra Douglas and Riley Smith and lost Reese and Sophie Fritz, who transferred out of Union Co. during the off season. The offense will focus on 6’0 senior FW Ella Chepul. Chepul turned it on in the 2nd half of last season (11.6 ppg/6.0 rpg/1.1 apg/1.3 spg/1.2 bpg)/37% from 3) while being named 2nd Team All-UCHoops and All-SCC. Maverick backcourt will return guards Kelsie Robitaille and Jenny Briggs from last season. Robitaille (6.0 ppg/28% from 3) is a spot-on shooter and Briggs (2.1 ppg/34% from 3) is a high energy guard that can push the Mavs offense. The Mavericks open the 2023-24 season at Catawba Ridge HS on Nov. 28th.
