The 2013-14 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Boys Player of the Year is Weddington’s Jordan Barber

The 2014-15 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Boys Player of the Year is Weddington’s Jordan Barber.

Jordan helped lead the Weddington Warriors to a 24-5 overall record. Finished 2nd in the SCC and led the Warriors to the 3rd round of the 3A state playoffs. The 5’11 Barber started and played in all 29 games for the Warrior while leading the Warriors in scoring and finished 2nd in Union Co. in scoring with a 16.5 ppg average as a Senior. Barber scored in double figures in 28-of-29 games. Scored a career high 34 points in an 82-62 win over Parkwood. Shot 32% from 3-point land including knocking down 7-of-10 3’s vs. Sun Valley. Barber Averaged 4.3 rebounds a game including grabbing a season high 10 rebounds in a win over Parkwood. Jordan averaged 3.2 assists per game. Dished out a season high 8 assists in the 61-35 win over Cuthbertson. Jordan averaged 3.1 steals per game with a season high 8 steals in the 40-38 win over Monroe. Named 1st team ALL-UCHoops and ALL-SCC as a senior. Jordan would go on to play basketball at Catawba. CONGRATULATIONS JORDAN!!!

Stephanie Watts (W)

2014-15 GIRLS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2014-15 UnionCountyHoops.com’s Girls Player of the Year is Weddington’s Stephanie Watts.

Stephanie Watts helped lead the Weddington Lady Warriors to a 25-5 overall record and into the ELITE 8 of the 3A state playoffs. Stephanie was 3rd in Union Co. in scoring with a 21.8 ppg average as a Junior. Ms. Watts became WEDDINGTON'S ALL-TIME WOMEN'S SCORER. Stephanie recorded her 2nd Quadruple-Double of her career with 25 points, 12 assists, 11 steals and 10 rebounds in a win over C.A.T.A. Stephanie recorded 5 Triple-Doubles in 2013-2014.

Stephanie dished out 4.6 assists per game this season with a season high of 12 in a win over Piedmont. Stephanie grabbed an average of 9.9 rebounds and grabbed a season high 18 in a win over Forest Hills.

Watts also averaged 5.3 steals and 3.0 blocks as a Junior. Stephanie ranked in the top 5 of all 5 categories this season in Union County. She was named player of the week 7 times this season as well as being named to the ALL-UnionCountyHoops.com's 1st team for the 3rd year in a row. She was named ALL-SCC and SCC Player of the Year for the 3rd straight year. Stephanie would go on to play at UNC.
