Chase Lowe (W)


The 2020-21’s Boys Player of the Year is Weddington's Chase Lowe. Lowe finished his junior year scoring 15.2 ppg and a season high 23 points in a 61-48 playoff win over Mt. Tabo. Lowe finished fourth in Union Co. rebounding with a 7.2 average and grabbed a season high 13 rebound twice during thte season . Lowe led Union Co. in assists with 6.1 assists per game including dishing out a career high 11 assists in a win over Charlotte Catholic. Chase finished 2nd in Union Co. in steals wtih 2.9 steals per game for Coach Ellington.

For the second straigt year Chase was named 1st team, 1st team All-SCC, SCC Player of the Year, 1st Team All-District and 3rd Team All-State. Chase was named's Player of the Week five times in 2020-21. Chase recored the 1st ever triple-double in Weddington boys basketball when he scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 11 assists in a 75-61 win over Charlotte Catholic. Chase joined the 1000 point club this season and is the first junior in Weddington basketball history to join the club.

Chase helped lead the Warriors to a 18-0 record, a SCC Co-Conference title, and led the Warriors to NC 3A State Championship!

Lowe joins former Weddington Warrior Ryan Schwieger ('16 & '17) by being named the's Player of the Year. Congrats Chase!

Maddie Dillinger (CU)


The 2020-21’s Girls Player of the Year is Cuthbertson's Maddie Dillinger. Ms. Dillinger finished the 2020-21 season 4th in scoring in Union Co. with a 14.9 ppg average with a season high 25 points in a 66-30 win over Sun Valley. Maddie finished 3rd in Union Co. by grabbing 8.3 rebounds per game including a season high 15 rebounds in the 50-36 win over Weddington. Ms. Dillinger dished out 4.0 assists per gamet, 2nd in Union Co.and had a high of 8 assists in the 60-37 win over Marvin Ridge. Maddie finished 5th in Union Co. with 3.4 steals per game for the Cavaliers including a season high seven in the 66-30 win over Sun Valley.. Maddie expanded her scoring game to the 3-point line where she shot 33% from beyond the arch.

Maddie was named 1st Team All-UnionCountyHoops, All-SCC and 1st Team All-District. Maddie was named's Player of the Week once during the COVID shortened 2020-21 season. Ms. Dillinger helped lead the Cuthbertson Cavaliers to a 14-2 record, an SCC Title and to the 2nd round of the state playoffs. Maddie is the first UnionCountyHoops back-to-back Player of the year since the 2014-15 season.

Maddie is headed to Lenoir-Rhyne University to continue her academic and basketball career. She leaves Cuthbertson second in program history in career points (1,458) and rebounds (766) and third in assists (207) and steals (202). Congrats Maddie it's been a real pleasure watching you play!!!
