The Mavericks will have a new head coach in Patrick McCarthy after Adam Haines stepped down at the conclusion of last season. The Mavericks graduated their senior backcourt BUT will replace it with a new senior backcourt in Brady Dunn (10.1 ppg/2.5 apg/42% from 3/All-SCC) and Alex Hutchens. Dunn was named 2nd Team All-UCHoops as a junior, both Dunn and Hutchens can shoot the lights out. Hutchens shot 40% from 3 in limited time last season. Junior guard Marshall Payne will be called on to score more (5.8 ppg/2.8 rpg/2.6 apg), Payne was name UCHoops All-Defensive team last season. Junior wing Henry Smith played well in limited time last season, showed improvement in the off season. The Mavericks open the 2024-25 season hosting Lake Norman Christian on Nov. 15th.
