The Mavericks will most definitely challenge for the SCC Title this season under 2nd year head coach in Patrick McCarthy. The Mavericks return 2 of the 5 starters from last season. Gone are guards Brady Dunn and Alex Hutchens. Senior wing Henry Smith returns as the leading scorer for the Mavericks. Smith was 1st Team UCHoops as a junior and was good for 13.8 ppg/6.6 rpg/2.5 apg & 1.1 spg & 36% from 3. Senior guard Marshall Payne (6.7 ppg) was UCHoops All-Defensive team last season returns in December after suffering a knee injury in the off season. 6’6 senior wing Matthew Rivlin (4.0 ppg/2.8 rpg), UCHOOPS 6th man of the year last season is expected to start, produce points and be active defensively for the Mavericks. The Mavs add junior Mac Habenicht a transfer from Davidson Day. A 6’4 lefty wing can fill it up and is athletic. Keep an eye on sophomore Fleet Payne, the brother of Marshall Payne. The 6’3 Fleet saw some playing time as a freshman and has really improved in the off season. Mavericks open the 2025-26 season at Mallard Creek on Nov. 18th.
